| Well, you asked for it! |
Why is it so important to not whitelist your own email address or domain name?
Because spammers are in the habit of forging your email address in the “from” field. Whitelisting yourself means any email from yourself TO yourself will bypass the filters, if the spammer is smart enough to forge your address in the header “from” field. You therefore need to ensure your end-users are not whitelisting their own email addresses.

How do you like your quarantine?
Email quarantine: A taken-for-granted tool or the bane of your email life?
Quarantine reports are fast becoming a must-have in most office environments, and for good reason. What is it that makes an email quarantine effective?
Join the discussion here:
- Quarantines that give complete visibility and control of quarantined messages to individual users through a web-based interface (check out our interface). Administrators no longer have to spend time releasing emails for users and therefore can focus on more important things
- A quarantine that utilizes existing network credentials means that users won’t have to remember yet another password
- modus 5.0 allows quarantine reports to be delegated to another person (for example a user can delegate to his/her assistant without giving away credentials) adding more flexibility.
- Individuals being able to configure their own quarantine settings and to manage white/black listing. This means users can change settings to deal with the types of false-positives they may receive. Click for tips on dealing with false-positives
- One click release for legitimate emails
We would be interested to know what your opinion is of email quarantine. Join our discussion on our forum. If you are an admin whose users do not have self-service email quarantine, how much time do you waste sifting through thousands of emails to release a false-positive? Are there aspects of your current quarantine that you do not like?
