Vircom releases a new version of its modus™ corporate email security & anti spam gateway technology

Montreal, Canada, Sept. 15^th, 2011 – Vircom, a leader in e-mail messaging security software, has released a new version of its modus™ corporate email security and anti spam gateway technology, modus™ 5.1. The new technology is behind each of Vircom’s flagship products including modusGate™, modusMail™, modusGate™ VM, and modusGate™ Appliances.

Vircom adds a number of new security features and performance enhancements in this latest version: improved spam and anti-virus outbreak reaction time, 64-bit operating system support, Windows Server 2008 R2 certification, and incremental anti-virus definitions.

In order to earn the Certified for Windows Server 2008 R2 designation, modusGate 5.1 had to pass a series of extensive tests to prove its stability, security, reliability, availability and platform compatibility with Microsoft’s Windows Server 2008 R2. Transparently integrated with Exchange, modusGate also safely provides end-user control of quarantined emails directly from Outlook with its directQuarantineTM add-on module.

Additional performance enhancements include improved spam and anti-virus outbreak detection and reaction time through advanced email analysis and distribution. Also available in this new release is support for incremental Norman anti-virus definitions that will reduce bandwidth requirements of daily downloads by more than 75%, as well as added security features such as opportunistic TLS (transport layer security) encryption support and enhanced PDF scanning.
